About toshiko.i.studio - Japanese Artisan Story

About

I'm a Japanese artist based in London.

My prime work is ceramic and I make bespoke vases and containers as well as functional ware.

I also explore the possibilities in precious metal jewellery, Ikebana (traditional Japanese floral arts) and Shitsugei(traditional Japanese lacquerware).

My works reflect my route as a Japanese - the importance of "Ma(間, negative space)", appreciating  asymmetrical beauty and encountering dynamic boldness and sensitivity.

Functionality is another important element and I pay attention to create the finely-balanced work.

My ceramics are available at the gallery below.
